What types of things can you do to help end family homelessness?

 

Direct Support for Families:

  • Meal Preparation & Serving:

    • Prepare and serve nutritious meals at the day center or host sites.

    • Organize and lead meal-packing events for families to take with them.

  • Childcare:

    • Provide childcare during family meetings, workshops, or while parents attend job interviews.

    • Offer age-appropriate activities for children at the day center.

  • Tutoring & Homework Help:

    • Assist children with schoolwork and homework.

    • Organize and lead educational activities and games.

  • Life Skills Workshops:

    • Facilitate workshops on budgeting, cooking, job searching, and other essential life skills.

  • Mentoring:

    • Provide one-on-one support and guidance to families as they navigate their housing journey.

Operational Support:

  • Donation Sorting & Organization:

    • Sort, organize, and inventory donated clothing, household goods, and other essential items.

  • Office Assistance:

    • Help answer phone calls or texts, or do follow up calls (CAN BE REMOTE, from home or mobile).

    • Assist with administrative duties such as scheduling and correspondence.

  • Event Planning & Coordination:

    • Assist with planning and executing fundraising events, awareness campaigns, and community outreach activities.

  • Maintenance & Housekeeping:

    • Help maintain the cleanliness and order of the day center and host sites.

  • Transportation:

    • Assist with transporting families to and from appointments, job interviews, and other necessary locations. (May require a valid driver's license and insurance)

Community Outreach:

  • Fundraising:

    • Participate in fundraising activities such as soliciting donations, organizing events, and engaging with local businesses.

  • Public Awareness:

    • Raise awareness about homelessness and the work of Family Promise through public speaking engagements, community presentations, and social media campaigns.

  • Community Partnerships:

    • Build relationships with local businesses, schools, and other community organizations to secure resources and support for families.
